Jordyn

Jordyn Bruce attended Eagle River High School in Alaska. Starting as an 800 runner, she later became a hurdler. Her marks in the 100 hurdles (14.85) and 300 hurdles (43.80) are still ranked second in state history.

After graduating, Jordyn attended Illinois State University where she learned to become a Pentathlete/Heptathlete while majoring in Actuarial Science. Currently - Jordyn holds the school record in the Pentathlon (3849 points), is second all-time in the 400 hurdles (58.80) and Heptathlon (5439), and fourth in school history for the 100 hurdles (13.75).

Post-collegiately, Jordyn continues to pursue her athletic dreams. Representing lululemon, she has competed at US Nationals as well as internationally.

The challenge of learning new events in college sparked her interest in training for the Decathlon. A year into her professional career, she decided to learn discus and pole vault to become part of the leading group of women fighting to become Decathletes.

In the summer of 2023, Jordyn ventured to the Alaska Pole Vault Club and learned the essentials to compete in her first Decathlon. Within a few days of training, Jordyn was able to vault 3m. Just 3 weeks later, she vaulted 3.20m and placed second at the US Decathlon Championships. She travels back to the Alaska Pole Vault Club every chance she gets to continue to learn.

Jordyn currently trains in Texas with hopes of qualifying for the Olympic Trials in the Heptathlon. Additionally, she fights to pave the way for women to be able to compete on the Olympic stage in the Decathlon.
